It differs so much a video on how to do it is pretty pointless unless you get one specific to the model or brand but there is a video on testing them, in basic general terms here with other info as well…

It’s easy to swap them usually.
Getting to them can be the challenge.

thanks for the link kwatt, we got to the pump and thought we had replaced it ok! but just put the machine on a rinse and drain cycle and my kitchen is covered with water! my oh thinks he may have broken something when he took the old pump out, he said it felt like something broke when he pulled the pump out and when he put the new pump in it didn’t feel like it was fitted as snug as before!!!!

Bois……do tell us the MAKE and the MODEL NUMBER…..rather than generalising….it will help us tremendously?

That model has a few variant pump positions, some are a bayonet fixing others a screw fixing, all though are very straightforward in replacing. So, chances are the pump is not located in its housing correctly. If you removed any of the hoses (not normally touched by the way) then the leak will certainly be from there I would imagine.
All the while care should be taken to ensure no water gets anyway near electrical wires, so tipping it on its sides, back or front should be done with great care. DO NOT EVER THINK OF TURNING IT UPSIDE DOWN……!!!

Martin thanks so much, my machine is now working and currently washing the stack of towels I had to mop the kitchen flood up with earlier lol one of the pipes hadn’t been fitted on again properly, you hit the nail on the head! before I posted on the forum earlier today, the machine was going off to the tip, but thanks so much for taking the time to reply to me, you saved me buying a new machine or paying for it to be mended…….this forum has been amazing, broken machine to fully mended in a day and it cost me about £12 for a new pump……..I’m very very very happy 🙂
