Thought i would post this for information

was asked to look at LG Auto Model WM16331FDK

fault was display showing TE as soon as power was applied to board

first thoughts after searching here was ntc but after changing it fault was still there

upon inspection it seemed the wire to the ntc had split and may have come into contact with the live heater terminal. my suspicion arose when i measured the resistance across the wires to the ntc from the pcb with it unplugged and got 62 ohms.

realising that this was way too low I removed the board. I then removed the display board and cut a hole behind it to reveal the back of the red plug where the ntc was connected to the pcb. It was evident the there had been a flashover on back of this plug and i scraped the compound away and removed all traces of carbon. I than remeasured the resistance and got over 15k.

replaced everything and tested and all ok.

    one very happy customer

    Dave
