    Over the last few years, my liability insurance hovers around the £100. Recently I have been supply and installing new appliances and it is fast becoming second nature to my business.

    I thought I best get it properly insured for product liability which added on at no extra costs but they put in the clause that removal of appliance is excluded, I replied that as part of my job, I have to remove the appliance in order to fix it there’s no other way round it with exception of very few appliances.

    I can’t understand why they decided to hike up the premium to include the clause of removing the appliance. Currently it stands at £395 with £500 excess and £2M cover to include removal of appliance clause. If I exclude the removal, the insurance remains at £100.

    It sounds like as they (insurance) haven’t got a clue on how domestic appliance repair works. It’s obvious that you need to move it or remove it to gain access.

    Has anyone else have this issue? Can anyone recommend an insurer or two for much less for same level of cover including removals?

    Yea, we switched to them too and saved a similar sum, easy to deal with too!

    So what sort of prices am I looking at then for general domestic appliance repair, supply and install new appliances as well removal of appliances?

    Will give them a call tomorrow morning.

    I have just got my policy through Swinton Commercial for Public & Products Liability for 2 mill cover Including hot works for £93.68 bargain I thought.

    My WTA preferrential rate for this year with Peacocks was as little as £78 I think
