ParticipantI am trying to identify the manufacturer of a motor used in a hotpoint WMA 44P.
The brushes are mounted in a white plastic ring mounted externally and encircle about 3/4 of the rear of the motor. The ring incorporates the tacho and TOC and can be removed by undoing 2 torx screws and unplugging the connector then undoing a further 3 torx screws and removing the tacho magnet.
Thanks
Keith.

Thats’s the Bosch motor version, you only get the inserts.
Part number is 1604462
Hope that helps.

Keith,
It sounds like the BOSCH motor fitted to your machine. What is the date code as that will tell straight away? The Bosch motor brushes (Part No: 1604462) can easily be identified as thay are held in place by a double ended spade terminal fixing that just slips in and out of the holder when you turn it sideways 🙂

Thanks Dave & Martin,
The description of the double ended connector fits so I will go with that.
Date code is 07 but niether Wash Vac or Hotpoint could identify from that!
Thanks again,
Keith.

Ah! but I’m one of the lucky few that has a Hotpoint WMA Service Manual (rarer than hens teeth these days 😆 ) AND in that manual it states: “May 2001 (from Date Code 89) Siemens(Bosch) Motor introduced on production as an alternative to FHP & CESET Motors!”

I’m not sure what point you guys are trying to make here by comparing the price variations between wholesalers 😕 A pair of brushes retailing at under £30 ai’nt all bad, in fact quite the opposite, a nice little earner. 😀
Remember the old saying about not looking the gifthorse…etc but instead make hay while the sun shines :lesson:
Lets hope we have to all buy loads of them to keep up with the demand eh? :rotfl:

KeymasterI’ll change your opinion yet Martin, it’s a rip off and we all know it. 😉

Where did you come up with that price, Hotpoint’s “list” price is £13.71 ex VAT for a pair 😕

Yer see!
One little comment and they are on to me, knives drawn again 🙁
I repeat…..” a pair of brushes retailing at under £30 aint all bad….!”
What’s the problem there? If you can fit them for £15, £10 or even a fiver then fine go ahead!……..”Rip off?” I think not 😛
Ask Brian about the cost if you wish, maybe he will explain to you what I know is the reason. I will save him the bother if you like, here’s a clue……1600474 Brushes sell in their tens of thousands each year and you can buy them at very low prices based on supply and demand. Siemens however have other excuses, but also based on?…supply and demand 😉
Finally, if you can fit a pair of brushes to any and all machines for under £30 these days, you’ll get the job don’t worry, you won’t be ripping off your customer 🙂

KeymasterI wasn’t having a dig as such Martin but it is still a rip-off regardless of how you want to slice it. Whilst I agree that there is an element of supply and demand as you rightly point out, most spares are obscenely overpriced and carbons are no exception to that rule, merely an example.
Where the demand on a particular spare is high the cost is lowered to combat the “patten” trade more than doing us all a favour.
I’m working on a full reply to this one Martin as well as a the reasons for the pricing, I’ll get that done in time. But I will tell you that you may not like the article, but then neither will some others. 😉

A bit off topic I know, but I have just visited a Servis washer drier M9003wa and was surprised to find a Bosch/Siemens motor fitted 🙄 (the type that Bosch use with 154740 carbons)
Now I am wondering how much Servis would charge for brushes ❓ No doubt it will be motor only. The worse brush rip off I come across has to be zan/ceset types 50226588007 £19 EACH ONE 🙄
