    Hi All,

Basically, had a customer ring me 3 weeks back. F-43 error on her Bosch. Went round, Brushes were worn. Replaced and Reset machine to clear F-43 code. (Cleared the filter for her too as i noticed it was taking a while to drain)

All was well until today. She rang up this morning saying that her electrics tripped (she did mention her electrics trip a lot anyway because they’re sensitive). She was using the washing machine at the time and her other half reset the trip switch and when she went to put the washing machine on again… F-43.

I’ve just been round to have another look, not sure why it would have tripped but maybe the brush was jammed. I noticed a little of the copper coil that keeps the tag attached to the carbon had slit away from the join (cheap brushes) but nothing unusual. Took brushes out and put them back in, reset machine again.

NO SPIN (No F-43 just no motor action). in fact when i put it onto a spin which takes 13 mins after 15 seconds it drops to 5 minutes counts down and gets stuck on 1. Quickly checked the Machine was filling and draining… which it was.

Checked power getting to the motor.. which it is. Took board out and looked for obvious signs of damage.. None. Metered the tacho, the brushes and the winding and it all seemed OK. She’s off on holiday till next Thursday so before i go back with a new set of brushes anyhow (just so happened to have run out earlier this morning) I was wondering if any of you have had this fault before and might be able to steer me in the right direction.

    Thanks in advance

You “metered” the motor but did you Megger it and if so what was the reading?

Had similar a few weeks ago. Armature was completely short to earth but did not blow trip, just displayed all the symptoms you describe except no F43 iirc. Somehow the electronics protect the machine from damage from this and it doesn’t register on the megger until, as Martin says, you megger the motor itself.
    Mike.
