    Hotpoint BFI680 integrated dishwasher. 37307150200 06 0187 – 61122261504.
Machine has been fitted new into a new house that has not been lived in for 5 years and the appliance has genuinely been used once by the new tenants.

Flashing led 4 in row of 7. Counting 4 as 1 (as per Indesit fault codes)this means (usually) overfill / water in base problem. Set program, machine starts, pumps and then faults. Machine runs for about 30 seconds only.
Checked float switch; fitted new float switch microswitch as a test; no difference. Checked motor, heater, pump, valves for function (tested each component independently with a mains lead). Checked for earth faults / PAT test passed; changed PCB as well; tightened all plug connections…even brought it into the workshop and tested it all again.
All of this and it STILL faults F1 within 30 seconds.
WTF??? Anyone help me on this machine? I cannot fathom what to do next. Apart from scrapping it… 👿

    Any ideas please?

    Thanks,

    Steve.

Faulty float switch, wiring faulty, earth fault on motor or heater, PCB.?

Thanks for the reply Martin; but I have already tried all those suggestions! I can’t see anything that is causing it……so as it is becoming disproportionately time consuming, I have just about given up.
Unless anyone else can say I’ve missed something, then it may escape the lump hammer.

    Thanks,

    Steve.

If this model has a turbidity sensor then I would try changing it. I had one some time ago with this fault and replacing the sensor cured it.

    Thanks Martin!!

The only thing in the machine I couldn’t test was the turbidity sensor. My wire cutters were hovering over the wiring yesterday, but I stopped myself thinking “Can’t possibly be that…..”. But when you posted that comment I chopped the black wire from the sensor to the float switch and IT’S WORKING!! OMG, you learn something new everyday!!

The only thing I haven’t learned is how to get out of this business….. :clown:

    Thanks again!!

    Steve.

Glad it worked Steve, but i’m surprised it worked without a new sensor being fitted!
