KeymasterHave one of these double american style fridge/freezers for 18 months now.
Got a electrician doing some work in our kitchen. He shut off the power to the kitchen whilst he did his work. When he switched the power back on, the applicance didn’t work. The light in the freezer compartment is on, but the digital panel on the front the freezer door is off. The light is also off in the fridge section. any ideas what’s caused it to fail?

The power being returned shouldn’t really have caused an error in theory as it’s no different than simply plugging it in and switching on, unless there was a surge.
Have a look in the user manual for possible solutions as many electronically controlled units have, shall we say “peculiarities” within their electronic circuitry.
Let us know if there was a solution please 😀
Dave.

Cheers Dave
I thought it may be a surge too, but the inline fuses in the control unit appear to be intact.
I’ve read the manaul and no ideas offered for situations where you lose power.
Called several engineers from the local thomson directory and no one appears to of worked on LG, so they seem reluctant to come along. LG themselves can send an engineer but they charge £65 c/out which inc. 15 minutes of their time and therafter, £20 for every 15 mins! …. £80 p/hr!!!
I’ve switched it off now and will wait 36 hrs, as I saw another thread on LG where an owner had power problems and leaving it off for 36 hrs seemed to do the trick (perhaps it resets itself?)

I’ve had a quick look through the service manual but that isn’t too much help,
Before working on the power board the appliance must be unplugged for at least 3 minutes to prevent shocks! It also says if it has been unplugged wait at least 5 mins before you plug it back in.
There is a “reset circuit” in the main board but no discription on how it works.
So if it doesn’t reset itself have a look in repairs@ or the directories section
for an engineer or pop up your postcode in hereClyde

left it off all night and plugged it in this morning….no joy. Going to leave it off for the rest of the day and try again tomorrow morning.
