Once again I throw myself at the feet of the group. Hoover Optima OPH-614, ser no 3100461811405112. The other day, pressed start and a little click but nothing. Eventually flashed the cold wash snowflake LED 2 times, too long to fill. So took the lid off and noticed more or less straightaway that the wires going along the back of the machine to the solenoid valves had rubbed through to the copper. They had been routed between the concrete weight and the foam bumper fixed to the back panel. It doesn’t look like the wires have shorted to the chassis but the white ones may have shorted to each other. So, I wonder, is it likely that this will have blown something on the board? Are the solenoids operated by relays or triacs? Hoover want £120 to look at it and I only paid 230 for it 19 months ago. Reluctant to pay that, so just looking for ideas. I am going to get the board out and do some fault finding but would appreciate all help. Rich

    Re: hoover OPH-614/L-80 WON’T FILL – FIXED

Had a look at this last night and am posting result in case of use to anyone. As I said the two wires going to the prewash solenoid had shorted together. This had caused nearly every through plating on the pcb track that fed the live supply to the solenoids to burn out like fuses. The Triacs survived. So I repaired the chafed cables, soldered a link across the pcb and hey presto! All ok.
I would suggest any other Optima OPH owners check for similar wire rubs at the back of the cabinet. Rich
