ParticipantFridge turns on and cools down but themostat does not start again when temp rises. Will not stay cold. Is this a problem with the thermostat and if so can it be changed, or is it a lost cause?

This could be the stat.
The stats do fail in this manor, requiring around +5 to turn back on.
Worth a try i reckon.
Kevin.
PS any strange “clicking noise” from the back of the appliance?

No strange clicking noises from the back of it – some funny gurgling though at times!

If you are changing the stat watch out for which gas it uses as in this unit it is critical.

The other point on this model is to remember to remove the round peice of plastic that looks like a disc and not to reassemble this part when fitting a standard stat else you will havea too cold temprature problem.
this disc is the one at the very rear of the themostat capillary fixing.

this problem you refer to with the fridgemaster mtrl 130, would it be the same solution for the 170, ie the stat?
