    Hi all –

Urgent prob due to be fixed as have baby arriving next Monday – so won’t get time to sort it after!

White Westinghouse double oven (205303/1), – there was a pop last week and main oven won’t heat.

Symptoms – Turning on at the socket / ring usually does nothing until you turn on the main oven or top oven – then the vac fan at the back/top kicks in. Now, turning on at the socket, the fan automatically kicks in.

There is no heat coming from the main oven. The fan appears to be whirring as normal. When I disconnect the main oven element the vac fan doesn’t kick in until i switch on the top oven (which is how it’s supposed to work). However, connect the main element back in and its back to whirring full time – whether the oven is on or off.

There is no visible sign of the element having blown.

Is there anything else I could check or would you advise me to have a crack at changing the element first? Need to get something sorted over the next few days as i think we will be relying on oven dinners from the freezer until we emerge the other side of sleepless nights!

It’s an old double oven, probably ten or more years – should i just bite the bullet and replace?

    Thanks in advance!!!

It is likely just the fan element, check it with a meter and you’ll probably find it’s open circuit.

The one I think you need for that oven is this one:
