ParticipantHi there,
I have a Zanussi ZWD12270W1 washer dryer.
It keeps dropping out of the programs, everything starts fine (showing expected duration etc) and for some reason it just drops out and the time goes to 1 min then the finished alarm goes off.
After getting a service manual I have managed to read the error code as “E66- The contacts of the heating element power relay are always closed”
Does anyone have any advice for me, this machine is only 2-3 years old, I have tested the main heating element and get continuity.
All advice / things I can try is very well received.

Think that error code tells you that the relay supplying the element is always on.
So if I was you i’d be checking if there is a faulty relay supplying the heater! But being an Engineer i’d be testing the elements of the washer & dryer for earth leakage & not continuity. 💡

Would you be able to tell me how to check the relays? Everything I read online is how to test them with the relays removed…?
Also I’m not sure I understand three terminals on the dryer element (there is 4 of them!) Which should be connected in pairs?
Thanks for any advice.

Advise that you mark the cables as you take them off the dryer elements,, if you use your test meter you will see that the dryer has two separate elements for 1/2 & full heat settings, as pointed out in earlier post, you need to be testing the elements for an earth fault.
Unlikely that there is any other faults.
If there is a faulty relay on the P.C.B it would need a replacement P.C.B fitted, i’ve never taken off a relay or fitted one to a P.C.B & would advise against a novice attempting the procedure.October 31, 2015 at 4:16 am #400040kkzh

Dear All,
I got the same error on my Sanussi.
Where is this power relay and the heater?

The relay an integral part of the main power board. The dryer heater is on the top of the tub!

Hi there,
I hope someone can help me in relation to this topic. My Zanussi washer dryer ZKG 7165 also showed error code E66. I read somewhere on the internet that if I disconnected the dryer heating element and cleared the error then it would work as a washing machine but the dryer functions would not work.
I did this and it didn’t work and I (stupidly) did not take a photo of how the wires were connected to the dryer element.
I have since arranged a repair but the engineer won’t touch it unless the wires are reconnected first, as apparently it will damage it if they are put on in the wrong order.
There are four connecters. When looking at the connections from the REAR of the dryer, I have them connected as follows (from left to right):
Double connector with 2 grey wires
single connector with single yellow wire
single connector with single grey wire (the other end of this wire is one of the 2 grey wires listed above)
Double connector with single yellow wirePic below (if it works).
Is anyone able to tell me if this is correct?
Many thanks in advance!
