ParticipantI have a Hotpoint WF740TB, bought in 2006, and the drum bearings are on the way out. It does say WF740TB on the label, but I can’t find any reference to the TB variant. I’ve replaced bearings on older models but I fear this may have a non-separable drum.
From what I can see with just the lid off, the two halves of the drum are fixed together by something other than screws, although there seems to be some kind of interlocking catch at about 3 o’clock.
Does this mean I can’t change the bearings and need a new drum? If so that would probably be a poor investment on a 7 year old machine (a badged Indesit I understand and may be lucky to have lasted this long?) so it may be a new machine.

Yes indeed. And when you go out to by new stay clear of Indesit junk in future.

Yes, it is white-ish. But as remember all the old (proper) Hotpoint drums were white-ish so I didn’t think anything of it. As you say, I don’t think it’s a machine to invest more money in. As the male engineer in the household, I would tend towards an ISE, but this would break the no 1 rule that there will be no white appliances, only cream or almond. There’s a suggestion on the ISE web site that they may have a built-in model by late this year, but I don’t think the WF740 will last that long. Miele only seem to do semi-integrated, white or stainless, so that’s them out… that’s as far as I’ve got so far.

In conclusion, the Hotpoint has gone and we now have a Bosch WIS28440GB all running nicely and ready to be integrated (just waiting for a wider worktop).
