    Hi There,

Newbie here, need some advice please. I’ve got a Zanussi tumble dryer, model number ZDC67550W, product number 91609616903.

Recently the tumble dryer seems to be spinning around OK, but there is not heat. Looking at various youtube videos, concluded it was either the thermostats or heater, but I couldn’t buy them separately so I thought what the heck, I’ll pay for a new heater unit which contains the thermostats at £64.

Assembled the tumble dryer and it seemed to heat up as expected, so left it to do its cycle. Went to check back after 2 hours and the clothes were damp cycle finished.

Tried running a cycle, and the heater doesn’t seem to be coming on again – hope I haven’t tripped the thermostats again – £64 a part its getting quite expensive. Anyone have any ideas what other things I can check? I’ve removed all the fluff from filters, checked the hoses they are attached OK, what else could possibly be wrong?

Any advice would be great. Many thanks

First piece of advice is this, if you don’t have the required skills and correct test equipment then you should not take any notice of online videos. Changing any electrical components without first testing them is to put it politely rather daft.
It more often than not results in wasting lots of money on unnecessary parts.

If you don’t have access to suitable test equipment and the knowledge of how to use them then you should let someone who does have a look at it.

There are other stats in the machine BTW. 😉

    Hi iadom,

Thanks for replying and appreciate the advice. Just my DIY nature, have a go.Yeah should have got a multimeter to test components, will do in future 😉

Gotta try and locate the other stat, you don’t mean the sensors do you?

You need to test the stats on the unit you have installed. If they have failed then you have an airflow problem somewhere. One of the stats should reset but one of them is a safety stat and will not reset.

Some models have a stat inside the door opening at top but yours may not have. There is a full diagnostics test but it varies from model to model.

If the new heater and stats check out fine then it may be time to let someone with the full technical data and diagnostics info have a look.

Thanks iadom, I’ll test out the stats on the unit – hopefully they’re not blown. I don’t think mine has one in the door, but will check anyway and then start to think about calling someone in to fix it.

Thanks for the advice, all the best
