Hi, looking for an upright fridge freezer to meet following specs:
    1. Must be frost free.
    2. Must have large freezer compartment, though the best ratio of freezer-fridge seems to be 50-50? freezer space is more important to me than fridge space.
    3. Must not be wider than 60cm max.
    4. Budget about £250-£450

I looked at the Bosch KGN34VW20G – £420, nice design but it had way too big a fridge compartment for me (186 litres).

The LOGIC LFC55W13 is £250. Currys own brand, so probably not the best quality? 136 litres fridge and 64 litres freezing.

The LEC TF5517W is £300 and has 156 litres fridge and 81 litres freezing. Anyone know much about the quality of LEC appliances?

The HOTPOINT FFAA52S is £330 and has 150 litres fridge and 75 litres freezing. I guess that Hotpoint are maybe the most reputable of the brands I’m looking at?

I did look at some Beko ones too but really didn’t like the uber stiff pull down flap on the fast freeze compartment of the freezer.

Ideally, I’d want about 100 litres freezing and 100 litres fridge, but guess the only way to get that would be to buy 2 separate devices, either 2 under the counter ones or maybe an under the counter freezer and then put a table top fridge on top of it?

    Any views? Thanks.

    Hi

The Bosch would have been my choice as far as branding is concerned. If you can’t live with the size split then I would go for the Hotpoint. As for the others the best of them would be the Beko IMO.

    HTH 🙂

Apart from the fact that they have been Indesit for over 10 years now. 😥

    Thanks for your replies.

I might in fact get the Bosch after all, I looked in the stores again on the weekend and the Bosch does seem to be very well built with really smooth freezer drawers, so for the sake of an extra £50-£100 I think maybe it might be the better buy.

Didn’t realise that Indesit and Hotpoint were sister companies. Does that mean that all Hotpoint and Indesit fridges are basically made using the same manufacturing standards?

Indesit took full control of Hotpoint a long while ago, so yes they are made to the same ‘low’ standards. 😥
