Hi. This is my first post, so I hope it’s in the right forum.

So, my wife alerts me to a burning smell in the utility room. It’s our Hotpoint sdw80… i have unplugged it…

The smell is rather acrid and coming from the front panel. The area around the display panel is VERY hot.

I turned it back on for a quick check and it still turns on and I can select wash cycles. I have unplugged it again.

I’m a keen DIYer. So, what can you guys suggest? Is it probably the £100 pcb I have been reading about? Is there anything I can check?

    Thanks

Just unplug and have a look, it should be fairly obvious, pcb is the most likely culprit .
Could also be the wiring to the door latch switch.
Watch the metal edges of the inner door, very sharp.
