Initial complaint, machine will not fill.

Switched on and a pump started to run, she said that is all it did, never advanced????

I determined that it was in fact the wash motor that was running with the machine empty, confirmed by pouring some water into the sump.

Dragged it out and on inspection all the side chambers, hoses etc where spotless, no water in the base at all.

I did a reset, the machine drained out and stopped.
I then set it to a wash programme and it worked perfectly. 😕

Reset and tried a couple of times without any problems.

Any known causes of this ‘apparent’ fault?

    Jim.

Inlet/safety valve starting to play up I would think. Also dodgy contacts on the fill chamber microswitch can give the same symptoms.

Micro switch was ok, checked that. Would a faulty aqua stop allow it to start a wash action without water?

No, but a sticky m/switch would. Also, often a power interruption can screw up a programme and resetting cures it. So, hopefully no need to panic on a recall.;)

Maybe a pot filled with water during a wash ?

Interesting, could you expand on that Paul?

As in, the pot was up turned and the water went inside the pot. Thus removing the water that can be circulated.
I too have had the fault you have Jim, numerous times. Nothing ever came of them, so I put it down to user error of some kind. A reset always worked for me. I would always look busy giving the rest of the machine a flush through & clean with my wet & dry!

Hmmm, not one I have encountered before, my customers must be careful loaders, 😆 or possibly not.

    thanks for that info. 8)

Like Jim I have never ever encountered this phenomenon. Interesting theory though but I’m struggling under what circumstances it would ever happen TBH. It would need to be a large “pot”. But if that pot were a saucepan it would be impossible for it to turn upside down and then fill with water. A plastic measuring jug on the other hand might. That plastic jug would need to contain at least 2 litres of water to then enable the heater pressure switch to turn off the heat and thus screw up the programme cycle for it never to complete.

User turns off dishwasher thinking it has completed a cycle, empties it. Then on trying to start a fresh load finds it doesn’t fill. Had the user performed a reset at that point then it would operate normally thereafter.

Hmmm? Theory very possible but I’m not convinced, really not. 🙁

Have seen it a couple of times….normally a collection of plastic tupperware type containers flipping over. Poor loading in the appliance is usually to blame.

I had it a few weeks ago with a customer washing a vase in the dishwasher. She stood it right way up, she admitted to it when I quizzed her.
The majority of customers I see with this style of machine don’t even know there is a reset let alone how to use it.

Had it been me though Jimbo, I would have stuck a new float ass in anyway, just to be sure.

have had this several times and it doesn’t need to have “turned over” more the idiot customer has put it in that way. As for the reset, how many customers know about that despite having 2 buttons marked “reset” staring them in the face for the past 10 years.
