Yesterday i replaced the bearings & brushes on our Aquarius & the motor seems to be very whiny when machine is agitating. Also motor seems very hot and also smells hot. It is spinning fine but i’m wondering whether i have fitted the brushes incorrectly. I was careful (i think) to replace them the same way as the old ones. Also i obviously had to remove the motor when i replaced the bearings but i was careful not to bang it about. Any help greatly appreciated.Re: Hotpoint Aquarius wm64 motor noise/smell

Why, that is totally unnecessary . :rolls:
If you have fitted the correct brushes complete with holders then it should not be possible to fit them incorrectly, which type of motor is it, a GDA or an FHP.
