I was looking at a Smeg A42-5 dual fuel range cooker for a customer. The fan element is not heating – the element is fine, the top element is heating and everything else tests OK. After a wee bit of thought there must be a problem with the selector switch.
My question is can I get access to the selector switch without disturbing anything I would need to be Gas Safe to touch?

    Thanks

the decision about taking the job on has to be yours but, you do not need to disconnect any gas part as the hob will raise up, complete with gas valves and burners like a car bonnet. It may also be possible to get the switch out after removing the clock but it depends on the length of the wires.

    Thanks.
After looking at the diagram on Connect I thought it was on hinges, but I thought I’d better check with someone who’d worked on one before. Thanks for the tip too – getting my giant hands into tight spaces is always fun…
