    Hi,

We have an Indesit WIXL143 machine and the door seal became quite mouldy so decided to replace it.

We bought a new door seal and followed instructions on how to replace it (I will try to attach a photo of the inside if it helps).

After replacing it, we ran a rinse cycle to test it out but water from underneath the machine started leaking out. Any idea on what has gone one? Is the seal not in correctly as there has not been a leak before?

    Thanks

If it wasn’t leaking before then it is either incorrectly fitted or you have disturbed something else. Doubt very much that any picture would help. There are three different seals for WIXL 143’s. What is the part number of the new seal you have and what is the serial number and commercial code on the label inside the door on yours?

PS. You can avoid , smelly, mouldy doors seals, have a read of THIS

The product number of the new seal is C00092154. The old seal was thrown away a while back so no number for that. The machine serial number is 804080210. Not sure what the commercial code is.

As this machine doesn’t have an opening front panel, we ended up replacing the seal through its front position. It does seem to have fit correctly, the spring at the back and the front retainer all look ok, although the bit near the seal drain holes has slightly come out.

We were careful in not disturbing anything else, so not sure how something inside has been modified. Obviously, we don’t want to end up calling a plumber if something can be done ourselves.

Serial number can help but it has to be commercial code, for accuracy, why someone has supplied you with a seal without the correct code is a worry, where did you get it from?

The small label inside the door should have the serial number and the commercial code on it. There will also be a label on the back with these numbers on them. The commercial code usually ends in 0000 but it is the 2nd to 7th number that is important.

The seal should be absolutely flush all the way around, it should not appear to have ‘come out’ anywhere.

PS. Why on earth would you call a plumber to fix your washing machine? Would you send for a washing machine engineer to unblock your sink or fix a leaking tap. :rolls:

Just checked and that seal is the wrong one for your serial number, it should be a C00262267.

Unless of course your commercial code is 49473, then the seal you need is a C00111416.

I got the seal online from sparessearch. The seal is compatible with the machine (from the lists they provide)which is why it was purchased.

I will try to see if I can get the commercial code from the back of the machine later.

The commercial code does contain 49473 so it looks like the wrong seal was purchased. And as its been a few weeks, not sure if the company will allow me to exchange it.
