ParticipantI have an Indesit W1B111 washing machine and the belt keeps coming off.
Last time this happened I had an engineer around who tightened the pulley and refitted the belt.
So the belt has come off again – the pulley was loose, so I retightened it, but the belt keeps coming off when you test it manually.
My thinking is that I need to buy a new belt as it’s probably been distorted because of the continual refitting etc – or could this be a bigger problem?
thanks!

The real problem is the awful cheap quality of Indesit machines.
Most machines use a metal pulley or at the very least a plastic pulley with a metal core that fits on the drum shaft.most of the recent Indesit/Hotpoint output has a totally plastic pulley. :rolls:
New pulley is the only answer ( or a new machine )
Part number is C00064527.

Thank you. Are they fairly easy to fit? And do I need a new belt too?
Sadly it’s my landlord’s so I can’t replace it!

You will need the correct size of Torx bit (T40)may be 30 and a suitable ratchet or extension bar for the bit. Belt should be ok as long as it is very tight when refitting. Simple task TBH.
Surely your landlord should responsible for any repairs.Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD

As ladom said but make sure you get a good quality torx bit. Cheaper ones will snap or round off the pulley bolt.

Thanks guys.
My LL is responsible for repairs, but I am liable if it’s due to me mis-using the machine (I assumed this may have come about because of me over loading the machine)

No, it’s because your landlord like most of them puts the cheapest, poor quality machines in most of the time. 🙁

Haha thanks for that – the part is only £20ish and I have access to the tools needed, so will give it a go.

I have no got I think the right tools to fix the machine – but they seem too big – I got a T40.
What exactly do I do with it?
