ParticipantHi guys 🙂
My parents have the above washing machine. Error code F18 appeared flashing on the front display. Basically it will work for about 15 minutes and then the drum stops turning. If you put it on wash cycle it works as it should I.e water pumps in/heater comes on and the timer counts down but the drum doesn’t rotate. If you leave it for 45 mins the drum will work as it should but only for about 15 mins.
Took all the covers off and removed motor. Motor coils check out ok as does the RPM sensor on the back. Had a look at the power board, lower left hand side and can’t see any dry joints or signs of failure/overheating. All wiring checks out ok as far as I can test. I’ve read this as a communication error between the power board and the program board on the door?? Or is it failure between the power board and motor? Is it right to assume it’s the main power board and not the motor at fault. Just wondering where to go with it as it’s five years old and call out fee is £80 or it was the last time I checked. If it is the power board £100, I think this then needs to be programed to the machine?
If it is communication error between the power board and programmer board on the door, could it be the door loom at fault. I can’t see it because it works for a period of time before the drum stops :/
Any help very much appreciated

F18 is ‘supposed’ to be a communication error between motor and main pcb. If all wiring connections are perfect then it points to a main pcb fault. You could try EMW, they will test/repair the pcb for much less than you would have to pay for a new one which would need programming as well.

Hi, thanks for the information.
I’ll give the cable between motor and main pcb another inspection tomorrow and then the parents can make a decision as to weather repair or replace. It’s been a reliable machine, used almost daily. I changed the heater last year but that’s the only fault they have ever had. Incidentally, the failed heater didn’t throw up any codes, we only realised when the washing started to come out rather smelly :eeek:

Faulty heater does not generate an error code.
