I have a Hotpoint WMTO3
It was making a noise for a while and then a terrible racket ( like a concrete tennis ball was inside) and then the drum stopped spinning and if you try and do it by hand it will only turn about half way round and back again.
Would this be the brushes/bushes whatever they are called? 😳If so how much to repair for a repair person to do?

Brushes will not make any major noise, they will just stop the drum from turning.
Your main bearings have failed but if it is so hard to turn then it will probably need a new drum rear and drum support to fix.
Very costly and not a simple DIY fix. Had you had it looked at when it was first noisy it would not have been as bad. You are likely to be looking at a repair well in excess of £150. 🙁
