Participanti think semi commercial is about 35 loads a week
dont know what commercial is
or what we would class as standard household use ..
reason i ask is we have 6 month old samsung where customer has hammered the arse out it now bearing are gone – she rescues grey hounds and says its on 4-6 times a day .
samsung going to do this time but not nay further more failures due to excessive load ..
i think customers think they can hammer them all day – maybe retailers etc should advise what a standard household use is ..

Hi Ally
I would deffo say that is commercial use on a domestic machine. I bet the retailer didn’t mention anything about guarantees on that usage when he/she ascertained what the machine was for :rolls:
I worked out a little while ago using the current energy labelling system average use is 4.2 loads per week.
Just checked a Bosch 7kg washer I have on display. The annual water consumption is quoted as 10686 litres per year based on 220 standard washing cycles per annum. which comes out at 4.2 loads per week.
I would sell them an ISE for that amount of usage but it will only have a three commercial year warranty. Not sure about the dog hair issue though. Could end up with a lot of blocked filter and pump issues.

All credit must go to Samsung here then, but were they really acquainted with the full facts I have to ask? Greyhounds? 6 loads a day? Loads of what? The mind boggles.

I just can’t help but think, dog poop, pee, hairs, muck… cross contamination…
The mind doesn’t boggle Martin, it’s too busy being violently sick at the moment. 🙁

It doesn’t even fall into the remit ‘Commercial Usage’ so a rejected claim there too I should’nt wonder?

Is the machine waste connected to the sink waste or separate stand pipe?
Used to work on commercials, all small ones were connected to separate waste to avoid return water contamination and sink contamination.
Personally I think the machine is in the light commercial use bracket, I would have advised along the lines of ‘this is for domestic use, which is light use on average of 3 times a day, also the heavy use will ultimately give you problems that will probably cost you dear. I would advise the next machine you buy to be in the lite use commercial bracket, which can be offered at a reasonable cost and would come with a three year mechanical breakdown cover, madam’.

I doubt a “greyhound rescue centre” would ever be able to stump up the cost of a semi commercial. They probably only bought the Samsung because it carries a 5 year guarantee, which, incredibly, they are now honouring…..woof!….woof!….into the winner’s circle they go! 😀

hi martin this is older model with 2 years, samsung will err on the side of the customer simply because they have a whole load of other stuff to sell the customer , ie phones tvs , american f/f
i suspect the clued up customer will clam up when questioned about her excessive use
samsung have big plans of dominating the washer market in the uk over the next 2 years , i suspect this will lead to all sorts of bending over backwards to missuse etc etc ..
doesnt bode well for the man in the middle
