Another condenser valve puzzler.
Cloths all hot and steamy – typical condenser valve problem.
No water through condenser valve but getting a resistance through solenoid but slightly higher than other two valves which I would expect as correct?
Puzzler was that I was only getting about 85 volts at the connector as did on the working valves.
Question – do these valves work at lower voltage on these machines?
Anyone had problem with these valves sticking as this is what it seemed to be but the machine is only 2 years old is that and would have thought it wasn’t old enough to have sticking valves yet?
Would have been nice to have connected the condenser valve supply to one of the other valves to check the supply but without chopping the connector about it wouldn’t fit the other valves. :rolls:
Any thought appreciated.

as far as I know all coils are 230v it will be marked on the coils so you can check
as far as the 85v is concerned I assume you are measuring it with the coil out of circuit. since you meter is so sensitive it will measure slight voltage leaks. in this case it will be less current than a neon screwdriver but enough to give you a rogue reading.
only measure voltages with the coils in circuitunfortunately I cannot tell you why it does not energise

Yes did measure the voltage with the coil disconnected – can’t test these days with the coil connected because of these stupid all-enclosed, clip on type crap connectors. :rolls: You have to disconnect to get on a connection.
I thought it should have been 240v thats why I tested another valve that I knew was working and got the same 85v. Wouldn’t surprise me if it worked at a lower voltage due to the size of the wires connecting the valves but by the same extent wouldn’t surprise me if the pcb isn’t switching it in properly for some obscure reason.
Should be going back within the next few days to change the valve s will let you know the outcome.

if you use earth as your base you should get 240v on one of them as most of these valves are neutral switched

Sorry late update on this – it was the valve that was faulty. Did notice once it was up and running though that it was intermittent fill – something like 5 sec fill, 10 sec no fill, unlike other wash/driers I have come across with a constant flow.
So presumably voltage will change across valve dependent on cycle unless to check live to earth but that won’t tell you that the pcb is switching the valve in only that there is a live feed to the valve.
Anyway sorted.
