Hi Guys, My sisters BEKO keeping tripping the RCD! It has worked fine for years.
I have so far removed the rear cover and with a digital multimeter checked from the two terminals of the heater (with the wires disconnected) to the earth terminal/nut for any S/C but all OK. I have now removed the motor completely from the machine and checked from the motor casing to each pin to see if there was any S/C but all seems fine.
Any other suggestions? as would really appreciate the help as cant see the point in throwing it away when it hasn’t been used much.
Great site very helpful, I have recommended it to a few friends who have fixed items rather than throwing them away.

These tests have to be done with a 500v insulation tester. ( megger)

Thank you for the reply, I can borrow a 500v insulation tester from Megger. Is it as straight forward as using it on each pin to the motor frame with it on my bench? or does it have to be back in the machine?

You can do tests on bench, test from motor pins to frame, you don’t want anything lower than 3meg i’d imagine & as high as possible. Heater & motor would be the components that you would mostly have an earth fault on causing tripping.
Best to start testing at plug first, check lead/plug with it disconnected from filter/interference suppressor, go through appliance from there, checking each component:-
pump, heater, motor, filter, loom, valves etc..
