    Hello there,

I have the Hotpoint Aquarius FDW20 with the above fault, bearing in mind the age of the machine, would you think that it is worthwhile trying to get this unit repaired? I am in the wilds of Argyll and getting hold of an engineer and or a new machine is challenging to say the least. Does the error indicate that heater element is completely knackered. I used to fix disc drives in the dim and distant, that were bigger than today’s washing machines so I am happy enough dealing with big boxes with electricity, though the element of water, adds a frisson!
Many thanks for any advice. Lachie.

first thing to do is to test the heater, plug out, place a few towels on the floor and lean the machine over onto it’s left hand (from front) side. Remove the base plate and the ‘tube’ heater can be seen, top right. Check for resistance, continuity and insulation. A bit of a fiddle to change but not the hardest job to do, apart from getting the hose clips back on that is. 🙁 Thin jubilee clips are advisable if you can source them.

If the heater tests OK then the main pcb is the other main cause of this fault.

Many thanks iadom, as it also has a fault with the door, hinge pin with the circlip has broken. SWMBO has deemed that a new dishwasher is required.

    Ta Lachie.
