Seal kit C00113038
I allways change the rear foam seal when fitting kit it stops the scraping
But now theirs 2 foam seals in kit, a thick and thin one.
How do you decide which one to use ?
Hotpoint Dryers get a lot of criticism but they are easy to work on compared to machines like Hoover dryers, I think some engineers dont change the whole kit which causes call backs.
AFAIK there has always been two seals in the kit, the thick sponge one for the back of the drum and the long, thin felt seal for the front. If there are now two rear seals in the kit and they are both the same diameter then I would fit the thick one unless it pushes the drum two far forward . Not seen two sponge seals in a kit yet though?
You can normally tell from the old seal. Have yet to use the bigger of the 2 seals
It may be that if it does scrape that they supply the bigger one to fit
Look at the inner drum, if the back of the drum sticks out beyond the folded rim around its edge then its the thinner seal, if the back of the drum is level with the rim then its the thicker one 😉
Hotpoint changed the rear profile of the drum on some/all of their driers, for example – the service manual for the CTD40 shows that the rear profile of the drum was changed and a 16mm rear drum seal was introduced from serial no 60606.0001 in June 2006.
