hoover hnf3147 cant select 90 or 60 cottons

hi, apart from spin cycle never ending ive noticed that when you select 90 cotton wash the machine appears to go dead, nothing lights up and pressing start does nothing. if you select a 60 cottons there is a click every few seconds from the timer switch (i think, that area) but again pressing start does nothing. ive replaced the timer switch but problem still exists. any ideas?
