    Hi,

I have a John Lewis washing machine JLWM1407. When I run a wash cycle on say 40 degrees, the machine fills up, then rotates one revolution of the drum, stops, drains the water then the display seems to indicate the cycle is ready to start from the beginning again.

Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

    Kind regards,

    Peter.

    Hi Peter,

What’s the PNC number from the rating plate inside the door?

    Hi K,

    A little bit more detail….

After an aborted wash cycle, if we press the pause button the machine seems to pump out water then continue the wash cycle. Sometimes it will fault again and other times it will continue to complete the wash cycle.

On the occassions when it does complete the wash cycle the detergent tray is left full of water.

    I would appreciate your thoughts,

    Regards,

    Peter

Time to check that the water inlet hose filter isn’t blocked with debris. Likewise check the drain filter. The user instruction book will guide you if you have any doubts.

    Update:

I have checked both filters and there were clean.

    Put the machine back together
Poured two litres of water in to the wash drawer
Tried to run the Drain programme – the programme paused and after pressing the pause button the machine completed the Drain cycle.

    Attempted a 30 minute wash:

    Start wash

Machine starts the cycle, fills with water and drum starts to turn.
After about a minute the cycle stops, the pause button is flashing and then programme timer is back to 30 minutes.

Press pause button, cycle start again, machine empties out water, refills and the starts the cycle. After three minutes cycle pauses again and the time goes back to 30 minutes.

The process then repeats – press pause, machine empties, refills, starts cycle.

Any further help would be appreciated.

    Kind regards,

    Peter

You only need to lightly depress the Start/Pause button once to start any programme cycle. From your description it appears you are pressing it too hard for too long thus ‘pausing’ the cycle before it has chance to start?

Re: Problem with John Lewis JLWM1407

    Hi Martin,

The cycles start normally and then without warning they go in to a ‘pause’. The machine then resets the timer on the programme to the beginning. That happens without us touching the machine one the programme has started.

We have had the machine for 4 years now and this only started happening after the warranty expired.

    Any further thoughts?

    Regards,

    Peter.

Does the Start/Pause button flash both red and green when it aborts?

No. Just observed it again on 30 programme as follows:

Selected 30 minute programme, display lights up and pause button flashing,
Press Pause button to start programme
Door lock light on, clicking noises as though it’s going to start doing something then he display went dark, came back on with the timer back to 30 minutes and the Pause button flashing.

    Tried again,

    Selected 30 minutes wash
    Pressed Pause button to start
Cycle starts, fills with water, drum turns for a minutes or so then back to flashing Pause button and timer back to 30 minutes.

When I press pause the machine drains the water, and then starts the cycle again.

I do not see any Red lights.

    Regards,

    Peter.

Check the door interlock plug-in as I’m thinking bad connection there.

I have more or less the same problem with my John Lewis washer dryer and I was wondering if the door was the issue, as suggested in the above post.
The model number is JLBiWD1400 Type P6498489 Prod No. 91460121400.
I was able to open the door with the drum still half full of water, which I thought was a bit strange as there is meant to be a door lock to stop this happening. I finally managed to get the machine to drain, after a few tries. I then tried on another program and the same thing happened, the machine started and after a couple of minutes, the start/pause light started flashing and the program display goes back to the start time. Nothing happens when you try and press the start/pause button and the only way to get the machine to do anything is to turn it off and on again.
The dryer appears to be working though. Any help would be gratefully appreciated.
    Thanks
    Sam

Hi Dave it just seemed to flash on/off as though the machine was on pause, but doesn’t let me unpause it.
