ParticipantResetting controller on Ariston AFA250?
I made the mistake of opening the door of my dishwasher a few times
during the rinse cycle, now it refuses to do anything.
When I power it up the machine drains the water out of the bottom &
then stops with the green led flashing. I’ve tried disconnecting the
mains but I can’t work out how to kick it back in to life.
We have had the problem once before & the engineer took 2 minutes to
fix it so I suspect that the controller needs reset in some way.
Does anyone know how to reset it?
Many thanksFebruary 6, 2005 at 9:08 pm #125233Dave_Conway

Is there a sequence to the flashing green light Lardy ?
It should flash x times – pause – flash x times etc .
Dave.

No unfortunately not, it continually flashes.
This is the sequence on switching it on….
Single beep then after about 5 seconds it starts to drain at the same time the first of the 4 leds starts to flash. It stops draining after about 20 seconds then does nothing. Led continues to flash for ever
The same sequence happens regardless of the position of the rotary program selector (even reset position)
Any ideas greatly appreciated.

ParticipantIIRC, 1st led flashing (from the left) is undertray flooded. Pull the plug and lean the machine backwards to see if water runs out. If you’ve still got the crockery in, remove it or you really WILL be in trouble when it breaks.
Opening the door stops the circulation, the water which was “up the pipes” comes down into the base of the cavity and on Indesit machines can be enough to overflow into the base. Water level control on these machines is notoriously critical – so, assuming this is correct…………….. Don’t Open The Door!

Many thanks Pengujin45, that worked a treat.
Lesson learned door will stay closed from now on.
thanks again

I have a similar problem with the same machine. However mine turns on and the green light doesn’t flash. I tried tipping it backwards (so the front was 6 inches of the floor; is this enough?) and some water came out the waste pipe.
If I reset it then it beeps four times, then I choose a program and the LED comes on and it beeps once as expected but then nothing happens. We think this happened when we put it onto full load setting although we are not sure. It did happen last Sunday too, we wonder if the prospect of a Sunday roast makes the machine go on strike, but then in the middle of the night it just started working again.
Thanks for any ideas

Hi, We have an Ariston dishwasher and have the same problem. Turning the dial to resent and it beeps 4 times and the red S light flashes continuously.
If you change to any mode, it beeps once but nothing happens. We’ve tried reading the docs and it suggested to top up the salts and the softener which was done. No luck.
I’ve also tited it forward and drained any excess water.
Only difference from damo’s problem is that is doesnt magically start working all of a sudden.
Is the machine dead? Perhaps a motor blew? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
