We are having problems with our washing machine (a Hoover 0PHS712DF) When we turn it to a 30 min cycle, its flits about and changes and settles on a cycle thats no where near! I wanted a 30 minute cycle and it ended up doing over 2 hours. So Im not sure if its the dial or an electrical problem. If anyone knows what the problem is, what part do I need? Thanks

    Replace the stepper motor.

    Are you sure?
    Whats a stepper motor do?
Is it easy to fix myself or do i need an engineer. If the part is relatively cheap, the engineer costs around £60!
    Thanks

Not 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} no of course not! Nor am I related to Mystic Meg. But the symptoms you gave are indicative of the stepper motor/timer/selector switch(or whatever Hoover/Candy call it?) fault. You may like trying a squirt or two of switch cleaner on the stepper motor contacts as that can often be a short term cure to save calling out a local engineer. But if you have any doubt then call out your local guy. 😀
