ParticipantHi there
My integrated ADG7560 Whirpool DW needs a new motor. A guy fitted a second hand one a while back but it packed in and I got my money back for it.
Question 1: Do I buy one (seen them online for about £60) and fit myself?
Question 2: I was quoted £125 from Repaircare – do I get them to do it knowing it is the motor needs replaced?
Question 3: It is 6 years old – is it beyond economic repair?
Grateful for advice

Your cheapest option

They will declare it beyond economic repair (BER) and give only half your money back.

Not if you can replace the motor yourself for 60 quid….!

Cheers for that – that’s of course if I got the right motor. There seem to be several for this machine – I suppose the best thing to do would be to remove the old one.

It turns out that the motor for this model is £116 on this site.
I have been without the machine for over 6 months and I can hardly remember the fault but as far as I recall it came on, started to wash and after maybe 10 mins drained and stopped. Can’t remember the fault code but the guy who came out is usually reliable and after checking it over said it was the motor. He happened to have a second hand one in his van(!) which worked for a while then went again. To be fair, he refunded the money for the part but I would hate to buy a brand new one if it didn’t need it.
Would be grateful for your advice?

Bump 😀
£115 for a motor on this site vs buy a new White Knight integrated machine for £230??
Am I right in thinking a Whirlpool is a better machine than a White Knight? Integrated disahwashers seem so damned expensive but is a 6 year old machine which is used every day worth repairing?

Beware cheap integrated dishwashers. 😉
Mostly Chinese in origin and, mostly not very good. I’m being polite.
For a decent integrated machine the Whirlpools aren’t that bad all things considered bar high parts pricing, there’s Smeg, the usual BSH fare and so on but the cheap ones, not worth the bother IMO.

Cheers K
I think I read somewhere that the White Knights are rebadged Haiers(?)
If I get at least another year out of the Whirlpool it might be better than spending twice as much on a poor quality build chinese machine

ParticipantMotor Removal – Whirlpool ADG7560/1
I’d be grateful for help on how to access the motor on this machine for fitting new one :eeek:
1. What panel do I need to take off to access motor?
2. Does water inlet hose have to be disconnected and supply shut off?
3. What size are the security screws that I need to remove as I’ll need to get the relevant bit
Cheers
