Hello, I have a Miele WT2670 washer-dryer. It isn’t drying quite as well as it should, sometimes even estimating 17h:56m left in the dry cycle! It otherwise works fine, and heats up fine.

From reading these forums it seems the condensing unit can get clogged up with lint.

I’ve taken the front off the machine, and found a semi-clear plastic unit on the left hand side of the machine, which was pretty clogged with nasty old wet slimy lint. It was an expansion chamber for water coming down vertically towards the emptying pump in the bottom left of the machine (the one with a nice little access door). It unclipped easily and I unclogged it, but it has not improved the drying.

I then took off the top of the machine, and opened up the air path that is on the top of the machine. Inside I found a large heater coil and thermostat, but little gunk. What little there was I cleaned out.

Where is the condensing unit on this machine?

    Thanks pros.

The semi-clear plastic unit on the left hand side of the machine is the condensing unit. Cold water is fed in through the valve while on drying cycle, the cold area from the water flowing condenses the steam & aids drying. Check fan is not blocked & that appliance is not trying to dry a full load. Think they will only dry a half load, the time is probably calculated by the load sensor because of heavy load.

Thanks Seamy for the amazingly quick reply. I’ll check to see if there’s anything impeding the fan–it definitely blows air, but maybe it isn’t blowing as much air as it should.

The half-loads is a good hint; many people don’t read the instructions but I promise I did 🙂 We do try to keep it to 2.5Kg loads (5Kg is full) but the performance drop off is exponential. 2 items dry in 10 minutes; 4 items in 45 minutes….a half load in 18 hours. We’ve never actually let it go 18 hours; we just take it out after an hour when it is hot+wet and hang it up!

    Thanks again

If it’s hot and steamy it sounds like a condenser problem
