Hello, I have a Hotpoint WMD940 washing machine which is getting stuck with approx 20 mins to go on a normal cotton 40 degrees wash cycle i.e. between rinse and spin cycles when it then repeats the rinse a few times with timer stuck before finally giving up and flashing up error message f10. If I then turn the machine off and set to just spin this works OK but it will not complete a full wash, rinse, spin cycle on its own. Any suggestions as to causes and solutions gratefully accepted. Many thanks, Dave.

Pressure switch would be a good place to start.

If it can’t sense the correct water level, which should be higher on a rinse than on wash, then you’d likely get an F10 error.

I will admit, I’m no expert on Hotpoint by any stretch but the fault code and timing would suggest that as a possible cause.

Great thanks – have found that mentioned elsewhere too. Is there any way of checking it or do I just have to replace it?

Honestly, I’m not sure. Like I said, no expert on them.

An email to Dave on spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk will get you the info on the pressure switch though. If it’s an electronic affair then it’s resistance based and can be checked with a multimeter but, if that’s the case it’d be a bit odd as you’d expect it to fail on all levels.

If it’s not and it’s an analogue job then, this is entirely possible and only one level is not being sensed properly.

Thanks for the help. Will try Dave as you suggest.
