Had dryer for few years now, worked good fine (in the main apart from a few issues which I will come to!)
Now (after a summer off), gone back to start using it again & as the title suggests, no sign of life!
Only problems now and then last spring which was when last used it, were occasionally on some settings, it “forgot” to stop and timer stopped at 10 mins, at same time felt like the clothes inside were hotter than they should have been and had been previously (from memory).
Back to the current time, and its now dead, no lights, no tumble!
Have checked the obvious (ie tried another appliance in the same socket, changed fuse, no obvious damage to flex ) , nothing untoward found there.
Now taken back off and checked thermostats for continuity with a multimeter – both show continuity. Have also checked thermistor on back (located by the thermostats by heating elements) for resistance.
Thermistor resistance did vary with temperatures ranging from 0c up to about 70c (looks like its NTC type – ohms up as temp down), so presume that’s ok?? – As thermistor had thin wires compared to the thermostats, guess its output/results went off to the control gubbins, so if the thermistor was giving off a duff reading (ie resistance out of expected range) would that cause the dryer to fail??
Starting to scratch my head on this one, so any advice appreciated!
Thanks in advance.
