ParticipantHi Guys,
I have used these forums as a guide to buying appliances but this is my first technical query. I have a Miele G1022i dishwasher which is 5 years old and the inlet drain light is flashing – not what I expected from Miele after five years. I had someone out to look at it and he diagnosed the flow meter on the left hand side of the machine as being faulty i.e. the impellor was turning too slowly so the machine was not recording the fill correctly. He removed the little circuit board assembly and tapped it a couple of times before replacing. The machine worked for about two weeks but has stopped again. He told me that rather than buying the circuit board unit I need (which is not available as a stand alone piece) I need to buy the whole assembly and this will be £180. I have not called a Miele engineer yet due to the high call out cost and if the part is this expensive then a new dishwasher might be the better option. Has anyone any thoughts on this? I live in Northern Ireland. Many thanks for all the help.

The circuit board contains a little reed switch which is activated by a magnet on the wheel/turbine as the water flows in, they were problematic in that they moved from their seating sometimes.
Check that its in place properly, power off of course.
Check connections are tight at fine cable connections as sometimes slight greening of contacts(corrosion)can cause the problem you describe also.November 20, 2013 at 7:58 pm #404824KP81

Thank you very much for the reply. I cleaned round the contacts etc and it worked for a couple of runs. I am planning to buy a replacement switch which I have found online but am worried it might be the impeller which is sticking. Is this likely? Perhaps there is no way to answer that! Thanks again.

Check that inlet filter in water feed hose pipe to machine is not blocked, this can reduce inlet flow, or a kinked pipe would cause same effect.
If appliance shows up fault after motor starts it may be down to partial blockage of wash pump impellor, but if it doesn’t get to wash motor coming on its more likely water flow meter.Flowmeter available here…
