ParticipantI am thinking of buying /leasing a new van.
I currently have a Fiat Scudo on a 59 plate with 83,000 miles.
Could anybody give an idea how much it would cost to lease a van of similar size with 2 side doors, over maybe 4 years at 20,000 miles a year.If I did this I would probably want to have the full service/repair package.
I don’t know if I should go down this route, or just buy a one.
I would also be interested to hear peoples preference/experience on the vans that they are currently using.
ThanksNovember 22, 2013 at 5:16 pm #405043Andy jones

I always lease, got a Citroen nemo on a 3 yr lease with an option to buy, £212 a month. Only down side is that it’s smaller than my last berlingo
Great little runner though

Horses for courses, but lease always worries me. Knowing when it goes back someone will take a looffok at the vehicle and hit me with a bill to sort any damage.
With HP your vehicle is worth what its worth. We dont abuse our vans but they still seem to pick some form of damage.November 22, 2013 at 10:34 pm #405045Andy jones

I have a Nissan NV200. Bought from new in 3 years done 100k. Never let me down it has the Renault kangoo 1.5 litre Diesel engine. Van full to brim with spares still getting 48 mpg. Looked at leasing but decided to buy it as it was cheaper

I’ve leased for 10 years+ without service package as all have good warranties and some free servicing for three years anyway.
Only becomes poorer value if you want options on the van. Better if you get off the shelf models.
You can go onto the BVRLA web site and see the fair wear and tear guidelines which takes all the worry away.
I like to lease because to me it is just costing the money that a “bought” van would depreciate by (which vanishes all by itself when you buy, at lease this way you spend it and get something for it) and after three years a flat bed lorry comes with a shiny new one and I wash mine and give it back.
If you like call Nick Venter 0845 519 3459 and he’ll gladly go through all the ups and downs with you. I’ve delt with him for along time. Very helpful in such things 🙂
