I wonder if you can help, had an issue with dishwasher whereby it wasnt draining. I took the drain pump out and basically separated the pump housing from the spindle/vane assembly, put it all back together and the dishwasher started working again.

After 3/4 weeks, had the same issue, check water light was illuminated, however I cannot work out what the problem is. Can anyone confirm whether this is a valid test to check the drain pump. Please note, I got this from youtube. Essentially, I tested the continuity of the pump using a multimeter. I tested for continuity to ensure the meter was working, and then put the multimeter probes across the power terminals of the drain pump ( it had been removed from the machine ) and got nothing, i.e no buzz, but instead the meter reading gave a resistance figure the size of which I cant remember right now.

Essentially, is testing for continuity as detailed on a you tube video a valid way of testing a drain pump to see whether it is faulty or not ? I dont want to buy a new pump, if the pump isnt the issue. There doesnt appear to be any blockages in any of the pipework from the pump to the actual drain, so I am either looking to the pump as the problem or whatever circuitry controls the pump.

    Any help appreciated. Thanks

Pumps don’t usually fail other than the odd blockage, so provided it is clear of obstruction and located correctly it should be fine. The Impellor jug device could be an issue and cause the check water LED to come on. From what you tell us I’m thinking this is the problem. IMPELLOR JUG

    Thanks Martin

But what I dont understand, and maybe I dont need to, but the impellor jug is conencted to the inbound flow, so I dont understand how this would stop the dishwasher from draining properly ?

Does tte test that I mentioned sound valid, as if I need a drain pump and maybe impellor jug, I will just order them at the same time, and then change them out.
Are there any tests that I can do on the impellor jug to test this for correct operation ?

    Thanks

But you said your issue was that the ‘Check Water’ light came on. The Impellor jug is associated to that as a possible cause.

    Hi.
Fair point, but it is also associated with not draining properly isn’t it.
So maybe becuase I resolved teh issue last time by ‘manipulating’ the drain pump, I am convinced that is the problem.
So in which case, back to my previous post, are you aware of any way that I can test the impellor pump ?

Nope, other than to replace it. Thankfully they are cheap to replace. 😀
