    hi there
    do dishwashers only heat in the normal wash part of the cycle as opposed to the super wash .

    i know they dont heat in the pre-wash,

    and they may well heat in the rinse and the dry phase , just interested in the washing phase.

    i have a hotpoint df23 and i have got it going after it being idle for three years and not working and it only heats in the normal washing phase.

    i have checked on an even older hotpoint that i have that is still working, and that is the same. no heat while dial is in the super wash section..

    if this is normal then i have fixed the df23 and can put it all back together…

    Does it heat on the final rinse?? The start of the super wash is just a prewash that goes straight into the normal wash as far as I’m aware

    yes there is heat on the final rinse of the normal wash and it is hot when in the drying phase. thing is the super wash in the manual says heat at 65 degrees …or 50
    it bothers to say no heat for the pre wash.

    but does not bother to say that the heat on the super wash is only in the normal wash phase but i think this is the case….wouldnt matter to most folks , only when you are trying to work out what is going on and whether it is running right or not…

    Super Wash gives both a 65deg wash and rinse IIRC?

    thanks Andy , and Martin you could say the superwash gives hot wash and rinse, in actual fact the heat des not come on till the dial turns past the number for the normal wash.

    same on my even older dishwasher .. i am taking this as normal ….covers back on tomorrow….
