ParticipantHello! I’ve sat on this problem for the best part of a year, waiting for the opportunity when I’d have the time and energy to tackle it – I’m a full time Dad among other things. I did do an internet search at the time hoping to learn from someone else’s experience, but could not find anything, so apologies if a similar question had been answered in the mean time. What follows is a draft that I knocked up some time ago.
I was recently cleaning our dishwasher (7yr old AEG 40850), when I noticed that there was a lot of grime build up around the hinges and along the edge of the internal panel where it meets the external door. It occurred to me that if I loosened the screws holding the internal panel to the door a little I would be able to do a more thorough job of the cleaning (I’m a perfectionist, ok! :rolls:). I ended up removing the screws as there wasn’t much thread to play with. Unfortunately my diligence resulted in some of the internal components behind the panel getting displaced. 😯 I finished up with a black rubber/foam part falling out and I’m not sure where to put it back. :eeek: Also whilst lifting the internal panel I noticed that underneath there was a bundle of wires cinched together and whilst I tried not to pull on them I can’t be certain that this wasn’t done. Fast forward a week or two and the dishwasher stopped working 😥 and I’m wondering if my Mr. Muscle effort had anything to do with this or whether it is pure coincidence. I can’t remember if initially it just would not turn on or whether shortly after it would turn on but there was no hot water, either way it now operates, but with no hot water. To save myself some money (and so I feel a little less stupid) I was wondering if there was anything I could do before I call an engineer out.
I have attached a photo of the black rubber thingy that dropped out of the door for reference.
P.S. Just has a quick search around the site again and found this: http://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/forumsphpbb3/post151775.html?hilit=aeg{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}2040850#p151775
Don’t know if this could be relevant to me, especially where he starts talking about opening the the front door panel?

Think it may only be for anti-vibration to stop door booming, moving in & out when hot to cold, cold to hot etc, not definate about that though.
As for the not heating, firstly check you’ve not dislodged any wires, POWER OFF OF COURSE when attempting any repairs.
Most often its a P.C.B fault thet causes no heat.December 11, 2013 at 5:39 pm #406060Toheqn

Thanks for the reply! 😀 Might be a while before I get round to this, but at least I’ve started the ball rolling by posting here. No doubt, I will be posting again in the near future. Thanks again.
