Hi,
I have an Indesit DI450 dishwasher, whose door catch has broken. Other than that the dishwasher was working normally, with no other problems.
I ordered a new latch, as I read it was a straightforward job to replace it. No problems until it was removing the catch itself, when I was disconnecting two wires connected to it (I assume to control the locking mechanism?). One of the wires had scorch marks on the plastic casing.
This is never a good sign, and obviously worried me, as I didn’t want to simply replace the lock and close it up as if there were no other issues, only to find it was a faulty wire that caused the problem, not the lock (The potential danger aspect notwithstanding!).
Three questions, therefore:
1. Does the wire control the mechanism?;
2. If so, is it replaceable too, or is the machine knackered?;
3. I was going to call an electrician to have a look at it. Would he be of any help here, or would I need a specialist appliance technician?
Any help gratefully appreciated,
Many Thanks
