I’m looking for advice on buying a built in microwave with at least a 30cm turntable for up to £300. I have a built-in double oven which I mounted lower than normal so I am planning to put the microwave above the double oven so it will be quite high up at about 5ft so I am looking for a side hinged door as a drop down door will be hard to use at this height.
The microwaves I have seen so far are:
Montpellier MBIC250 – £150 – This is a combination grill and convection oven with a 31.5 cm turntable. Montpellier is a new brand so I am bit worried about how reliable this will be and what the quality will be like and I can’t find much information, in particular, a user manual to see what it can do.
Caple CM118 – £200 – This seems identical in specification to the Montpellier, so as Caple has been around longer, I am wondering if the £50 extra is worth paying.
Premier Range Ceramic Technology – £300 – I don’t actually know the dimensions of the interior, but the Ceramic Technology means it doesn’t use a turn table so should be able to fit more in it as I guess you will be able to use the “corner” space. I can’t find much info on this as it seems to be a new brand so this worries me for the same reasons as Montpellier and I am even more worried about this new “Ceramic Technology” which may not work very well.
The Montpellier and Caple come in cheaper non-convection oven models, but they are only £30 cheaper, so I thought the convection oven feature would be useful as I guess, in theory, the convection oven on the microwave should be more energy efficient than similar sized NON-fan top oven and the much bigger bottom fan oven on my double oven.
Any advice would be appreciated.
