ParticipantI’d appreciate any advice.
We bought this fridge in Feb 2010.
In Aug 2012 it stopped cooling even through the compressor was running constantly. We had a local independent engineer out to look at it and he said the compressor was a little small for the size of fridge, and was sometimes marginal. He added a small amount of refrigerant and it started working again.
The fridge stopped working again last week, although I’ve always been convinced the compressor was running more than it should need to.
The same engineer now says that the condenser coil is blocked, and the fridge is scrap.
Apparently they used to be able to blow nitrogen through the coil to clear it, but they’re not allowed to do so now.
I now have 3 questions.
1. Is there any hope of repair of this expensive, premium brand fridge?
2. Any recommendations for a replacement fridge? Several posts on this forum seem to recommend Liebherr, which for obvious reasons I’m now not keen on, even though the physical build quality is high.
3. The original online retailer wasn’t interested in 2012. I am intending to try a section 75 claim on the credit card, as I don’t think this is an acceptable life for a fridge. Any other suggestions, or opinions on likelihood of success?
Cheers,

Hi
Contact Liebherr for a absolute answer. Doubtful if the compressor was too small and if it is scrap then they may offer a valuation
