ParticipantHoping someone can help me with this, had to replace brush ring on a Bosch WFK5730gb/04 but could only get new motor end frame, had already stripped down motor to clean through, when new end came there was a note inside to say mark motor with felt pen as field coil can fit into brush ring either way! Too late as already apart! Is there any other way to tell which way round I should fit it? I did notice on outside of field coil there were two small slots on one face and a single longer on opposite side they don’t line up with any other marks on the casings.
Thanks AllanJanuary 2, 2014 at 4:50 pm #407002Martin

No way of telling short of trying the motor with the coil in one position and if it don’t work you know it’s wrong and then turn it about!

if you get it wrong it won’t reach full speed on final spin, customer will complain clothes not drying,
always carry a tipex pen, great for marking field coils and pumps etcJanuary 2, 2014 at 4:59 pm #407004Martin

Fair point but the last one I repaired was £600 worth of intergrated machine for a couple who clearly were not short of the means to have the job done to professional standards with a new brush ring and carbons (which are longer than standard bosch carbons)a comm stick clean up, jobs a good un!

To be honest I normally mark them, was thinking that as it was Bosch with push in pins etc ,they would have made it impossible to get wrong! Won’t make same mistake again! Have refitted and luckily all seems ok, looked at amount of carbon in end frame and around field coil and matched the two! Anyway I was lucky.

New, longer carbons for £1.95 , where do you get those from and would you say they are the same quality as gen ones?
