ParticipantHi
I had a problem with a stuck filter; the only way of freeing it was to tilt it and remove the unit completely, taking away the black hose to free all the rubbish.
This was a very fiddly job to do, but managed to do it but only after putting the washing machine completely on its side. I restored everything and returned it gently upright.
All the electtrics switched on ok, but now when I go to spin or go through a normal cycle the drum will not turn. How can I resolve this?
Many thanks for any help or advice.

Is the belt still on?

Could be motor brushes worn, belt off as K advises or perhaps the cable to motor has become stretched & is making bad connection or come out.

Thanks, I have checked the belt and that is in place. I am thinking the initial problem being the filter which is sorted, but by leaning the machine on its side might have created the next problem with the drum not turning, is that possible?
When I switch the cycle on the machine makes a noise a low whirring sound instead the drum turning sounds as if it wants to turn.

It could just be coincidental but Seamy is correct, it does sound like the carbons from what you’re saying.
If you need the carbons, they’re easy to check and replace, there are two options:

Low whirring noise is possibly the drain pump, check that it is in fact draining water away as motor may not start to spin until water is drained out. Buzzing noise would indicate that valve is looking for water maybe it has not been switched on again, on wash cycle appliance would not turn until it had filled of course.
