    Hi
I recently replaced all three lifter/paddles at the suggestion of the manufacturer, after one had broken off, but suspect I did not fit them correctly as a further two have subsequently broken off and I have replaced again. All seem to be fitted well now, clicked into place and tight but on a recent cycle a small fitting from a new lifter has again broken off and the machine was making the most awful noise ever, as if we were washing metal (but weren’t and haven’t washed anything heavy except towels)
I have looked and removed a metal short collar from the drum, but does anyone know exactly how to fit the next (probably 7th!) paddle in the correct way. I have a Indesit machine IWB5113.
    Thanks
From a frustrated washing machine user (with loads of washing to do!)

You need to change from being a frustrated washing machine user to a more careful washing machine user. 😉

99{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of the time the drum lifters are damaged due to a complete lack of care when loading the machine. A failure to carefully check pockets as advised in the user manual will result in coins, keys, bra wires, nails, screws hair grips and other such junk getting into the drum, smashing off the drum lifters, blocking the pump and even punching holes through the outer drum itself.

The drum lifters are held in place by metal tabs in the inner drum, these often get broken off when the machine is subjected to constant user misuse. The tabs have to be lifted up to hold the lifters in place.

Like most budget machines this has a completely sealed outer drum and retrieving anything that has got into the drum will be very difficult, sometimes impossible.

What exactly is this ‘metal short collar’ that you speak of, do you have a picture?

Have you checked the drain pump filter recently?
