    Hi all,

I have the above machine, fault free for nearly 9 years but it has recently developed a very bad vibration during spin cycle. It always moves forward a little and depending on load can walk right into the middle of the room!

No amount of adjusting and levelling seems to help, neither do rubber vibration pads.

Could this be a worn bearings or worn shock absorber Issue? As a competent DIYer, would the issue be easy for me to diagnose?

    Many thanks for any help!

    Morning

is it spinning ok, have you check your pump filter for any blockages? could also be suspension needing replaced or suspension pin maybe that’s came out.

    as always unplug appliance

    Hi Razor,

Thank you. It’s spinning fine and no unusual noises.

Machine is draining fine but I can certainly check pump filter if that may be a cause.

Two springs at top and shock absorbers at bottom remain attached, but how would I check if they need replaced?

Power off, lid off, then a sharp downward push on the tub. The shock absorbers should absorb that shock with some noticeable resistance toward the force exerted. As it is 9 yrs old chances are it’ll flop up and down like a sprung loaded baby bouncer meaning the shockers need replacing at the very least, the whole machine at best. 😉

    Martin,

    Thanks. I’ll try that tonight.

How much would it cost to replace shocks and is it a DIY job?

Is new machine the most economical solution?

Haven’t had time yet to pull out and open up, but:

Sharp push down on inside front of drum bounces the drum twice before it settles.

Pulling drum forwards seems to replicate the vibration and walking forward motion.

Is that any help in suggesting most economical solution?

    Thanks once again.

A pair of shock absorbers are not expensive and are simple to replace.

Would worn shock absorbers cause the forward walking motion that I seem to be having?

Struggling to find the relevant shock absorbers online for this model – can anyone tell me where I might find them?

    Yes.

Look on Indesit’s own spares site. Type in the full model number to source any and all parts that fit that model. 😀
