ParticipantWent to this machine which was tripping the RCD. (Doddle I think not) Insulation check carried out, well above 10 Meg. Tested element and motor all OK. Ran machine until it tripped again, insulation check carried out again. The motor sounded hesitant as though the armature was shorting out. Changed the motor, same fault. I could find no evidence of broken or shorting cables, even checked the 3 pin plug. Am I missing something? Could the module be causing the tripping? Words of advice would be appreciated.

A stab in the dark from me : Mains filter maybe?

Took your advise and tried the mains filter. Fault resolved. I then went to remove the old mains cable from underneath the kitchen unit and blow me if there was a connector block shorting out. What I can’t understand is why the insulation check never showed this fault up. You just can’t put a price on knowledge. Regards Taff

Depends on what voltage setting you were using on your tester

Hmm, curious, the only insulation testers I have seen have DC voltage settings of 250, 500 and 1000.
You would have to isolate the mains to insulation test the machine so a Megger would not show up a fault in the wiring under the kitchen unit. However a loop tester would. 😉

The connector block was used to extend the mains lead to the machine. So when I was testing it, it should have picked up the fault. The meter was set to 500v, my finger trouble.
