ParticipantHi whenever the oven door is left open for 25 seconds (yes I’ve timed it lol) it goes into F12 mode.
If it’s ON & cooking then everything switches off apart from the fans & you have to shut the door for it to come out of F12 mode. It then switches it’s self OFF so you have to turn it back on & re enter all of the settings to continue cooking.
Or if the ovens OFF & you leave the door open for 25 seconds all of a sudden the fans turn on as well as the display which obviously reads F12, again until you close the door at which point it turns it’s self OFF again.
I’ve read that F12 is a control panel problem on Hotpoint ovens, is this correct? Everything else still works fine but you just have to make sure you don’t leave the door open to long or you get the dreaded F12!
Cheers.

OK so I don’t think anyone’s heard of my dodgey problem before so heres another question!
I’ve been offered a years protection plan by D&G for £72, should I take it out & then get the problem looked at by them?
Cheers 🙂

No they won’t go along with pre-existing faults. If only life were that simple eh? 😉

Obviously I won’t be aware of this fault until my cover is underway 😉

Domgen are well wised up and like all insurance companies reluctant in paying out. Often on expensive repairs they shout ‘beyond economic repair’ even at a fraction of the replacement costs. Your oven doesn’t work now and it still won’t even if D&G get involved.

The oven works OK unless the door is left open for 25 seconds, then theres just the chew on of closing the door for a couple of seconds for it to reset & then youre away again. To be honest I can live with it but was just wondering if it was likely to get worse & will need sorting.
I’ve had D&G out a couple of times & to be honest apart from their TERRIBLE phone service theyve always came out fairly quickly, ordered the parts & then done the repairs no problem.

I think this is a lost cause now but just in case anyone is interested I was messing with the oven door this morning & noticed that the F12 fault after 25 seconds only happens when the door is FULLY open/down. If I leave it only about 3 quarters open/down or less the fault dose not occur. Also if I leave it fully open/down for the fault to occur & then lift it back to 3 quarters or less position the oven resets & goes back to normal. Very odd!
