    Hi,

I recently brought a bush fridge freezer from and ebay seller, upon getting home i pluged it in just for 10 second to see if it would start up which it did. smelling a bit funky I started to clean it out and make it a nicer place to store food, this took about 2hrs and gave it chance to stand as i have heard that if you move fridges/freezers they need time to stand before running them. I will tell you that i transported it in my car on it side, i beleive there is somtjing wrong with the thermostat becuse when i looked at the seettings it was on max and when i started it i left it that way after about 40mins runnning i moved it back to 4, the fridge being cold cut out after this i move temp to postition 5 and went to bed. In the morning i checked it and it appeared not have ran after that as the inside was warm. Not overly joyed by this i wrote to the seller and complain not just about this but other things that were wrong with the discription to which he wrote back saying it was my fault i had broke it and that you shouldn’t transport them on there side and they must be left unpluged for 24hr and that is how the thermostat became defective. I can understand that the compressor needs to stand after being moved because the mixture of fluid and gas but cant not understand why or if this would damage a thermostat. This morning to get it to run i had to turn it off and on again at the mains,i then left it running with the thermostat on 5,it has now cooled down both fridge and freezer areas and has cut out i am now waiting for it to cut back in again. the running of the compressor is quite with no abnormal sounds and it is not constantly running i beleive it to be fine my only concern is about the thermostat, now could i have damaged it in transport? i dont think so as they just dont work like that, and does it sound like the themostat has a problem if it would only start after turning it off/on again?

hope this makes sense and thank you for your time.

It is unlikely to be the thermostat that’s at fault, more likely either a system blockage or a faulty compressor sadly.

    Hi,

is it likely that the fault occured through my transportation or time i left standing and is there anything i can do?

    thank you

That may very well be the possible reason I’m afraid and, there’s not a lot you can do as to test it and/or repair it you’d need a refrigeration engineer.
